How to choose an alcohol-free venue
Pick the venue type that fits your plan, check the hours and whether it serves food, then use this site to compare options in your city.
Updated
Start with the type of venue that fits your plan. This site has four categories: alcohol-free bars, non-alcoholic bottle shops, zero-proof restaurants and sober event series. It lists bars and bottle shops now. It lists no zero-proof restaurant or event series yet. A bar suits a night out. A bottle shop suits buying drinks to take home. A sober event series is a pop-up or a ticketed night that runs on a schedule rather than at a fixed venue.
Use the category pages. The alcohol-free bars category lists bars that serve no alcohol. This includes zero-proof cocktail bars, kava bars and a kombucha bar. The non-alcoholic bottle shops category lists shops that sell only alcohol-free drinks. Pick the category that matches your plan and start there.
Look at the places. The site covers the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, Germany and France. The United States has the most listings. Toronto and Manchester each have two. Most other cities have one. Outside the United States, the site lists two venues in Toronto, three in England, and one each in Australia, Germany and France. Browse by country, then region, then city.
Check the hours. A listing shows opening hours when the source gave them. The source is the venue's own site or OpenStreetMap. Hours change, especially for small venues. Some listings show no hours. Check the venue's own website before you travel.
Think about the feel of the place. Raven Records in London is a heavy-metal record shop whose bar serves only 0.0% ABV drinks. Hinterland in Manchester is a vegan café in the basement of the Manchester Buddhist Centre. The descriptions on each listing help you choose.
Check the food. Some venues have a kitchen, for example Hinterland in Manchester and Ocean Beach Cafe in San Francisco. A listing shows this when the source states it.
Compare the cost. No listing shows a price per drink yet. The zero-proof night out cost tool lets you enter your own prices for cocktails and alcohol-free drinks. It compares drinks only. It leaves out food and cover charges.
Read the whole listing. A listing shows the venue type, the address and a short description. Some show food, hours and the number of zero-proof drinks on the menu. ZERO Cocktail Bar in Toronto lists fourteen. The source link at the bottom leads to the venue's own site or to the OpenStreetMap page. We read these pages on 2026-10-20. The venues have not yet reviewed them.
The number of alcohol-free venues is still small. If you know a venue we do not list, use the suggest a venue form.
